Shari Friedman is the founder and CEO of SmartFuel Inc. Ms. Friedman began SmartFuel after co-founding Opus4 in 2002, an environmental consulting firm focusing on emerging green markets and small businesses. Prior to launching Opus4, Ms. Friedman worked at Environmental Enterprises Assistance Fund, an organization that managed environmental private equity funds. She directed all new fund development, capitalization, and greenhouse gas marketing. Ms. Friedman worked at the United States Environmental Protection agency where she was a member of the U.S. negotiating team for the Kyoto Protocol, focusing on rules for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Prior to working internationally, Ms. Friedman evaluated economic effects of climate change policy on the U.S. economy and policies for domestic action. Ms. Friedman has made biodiesel to use in her diesel car. Ms. Friedman holds a MA in Public Policy from Georgetown and a BA from Tufts University.

Scott Walsh is a Board member and Treasurer for SmartFuel. His full time job is as Project Manager at Environmental Defense where he Mr. Walsh works with large companies to create environmental improvements that make business sense. He leads Environmental Defense's efforts to ensure the safe development of nanotechnology. He also provides business strategy and financial analysis for projects addressing sustainable seafood, antibiotic resistance and fleet management. As a business strategy consultant with Boston Consulting Group, he advised companies on organizational design, market strategy, product development, process design and project management. As an environmental policy consultant with Jellinek, Schwartz & Connolly, he advised companies on pollution control, worker safety, product formulation and legislative and regulatory strategy. Mr. Walsh holds a BA in Environmental Geology & Geophysics from Yale University and an MBA from the University of Virginia.

Suzanne Hunt is a Board Member and Secretary for SmartFuel. Ms. Hunt is an independent consultant working for non-profits and multilateral organizations on biofuels policy, markets, and sustainability. Ms. Hunt recently finished a book for World Watch Institute called Biofuels for Transport. Ms. Hunt is a graduate of the Natural Resources and Sustainable Development masters program in the School of International Service at American University and has her BS in Environmental Science. She has years of experience in marketing and staff management in her family business. Ms. Hunt also has experience: teaching inner city and "at risk" students and writing grants.
